About the role

We are seeking a Product Manager who will be based in Italy. In this role you will be contributing to growing OUP’s market-leading position and will be working in a team committed to the enrichment of lives through education. As Product Manager you will be responsible for overseeing market appropriacy of product for Italy by providing market insight, gathering and analyzing intelligence and representing the voice of the customer.

You’ll work closely with the Portfolio Product Manager, Promotion, Marketing and Product Management colleagues to ensure our products for Italy reflect current market trends and meet the needs of today’s teachers and learners.

What you will do

  • Work collaboratively with the Portfolio Product Manager, and Promotion and Marketing colleagues to input into the product plan.
  • Comment on products in conceptualization and development, analyzing material to ensure suitability for the Italian market and representing the voice of the customer.
  • Input into research planning to ensure market requirements, trends and developments are identified and evaluated.
  • Interpret research reports and collaborate with Product Management colleagues to ensure these needs are addressed through future product and service offers.
  • Support product teams to ensure intelligence and information on Italy Educational reforms are integrated into the product offer.
  • Create and provide competitor analyses of competitor publications to Promotion and Product Management teams.
  • Regularly visit market (schools, events etc) to inform product development. Identify trends and report back think findings and insight to key stakeholders.
  • Identify and develop relationships with key institutions, associations and individuals in order to build a network of potential advisors, reviewers and authors who will help inform and expand our knowledge base and influence product development.
  • Act as principal contact for all queries from UK Product Management team.
  • Collate monthly feedback from distributor field team and educational consultants and disseminate to the product team. Facilitate regular feedback reporting loops between Promotion, Marketing, Research, and Product Management.
  • Support the Product Portfolio Manager in communicating with Italy’s key distributor.

About you

Crucial to this role is the ability to build relationships, inspire others and bring a positive attitude to change. You’ll also have the following:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge and experience of product development process, ideally within an educational publishing context
  • Understanding of local educational systems
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the educational market in Italy
  • Ability to speak and write English to a native-speaker level of fluency
  • Ability to speak and write Italian (minimum C1 level)
